Zojirushi BB PAC20 Breadmaker Review

All about the Zojirushi BB PAC20 Bread Maker

Glorious smells could be filling your home in just a couple hours with the Zojirushi BB-PAC20 automatic breadmaker.

Many bakers cringe when they hear people talking about bread makers spitting out those odd looking round loaves. The bread usually tastes great, but seems a little strange compared to the traditional loaf shape. The Zojirushi BB-PAC20 produces at traditional loaf of bread without all of the mess, effort, and in less time. Be forewarned, Zojirushi calls this machine the Home Bakery Virtuoso and for good reasons.

Zojirushi BB-PAC20 Breadmaker Main Features

  • Rectangular Loaf Pan
  • Dual Kneading Blades
  • Multi-Sided Baking
  • Easy to Use Controls with Timed Start Control
  • Cook Books, Instructions, and More

Rectangular Loaf Pan for Traditional Loaves and More

The first feature which interests most people looking for a breadmaker is BB-PAC20’s rectangular loaf pan. The pan allows you to make a 2 pound loaf of bread which is perfectly shaped, not some odd looking round loaf. The rectangular pan adds a few benefits, too.

The Zojirushi BB-PAC20 can be used for cooking a wide variety of other foods which cannot be done in many other breadmakers. This includes items like meat loaf, loaf cakes, and even making fresh jam for your fresh bread. It is highly versatile in use.

Dual Kneading Blades for Efficient Mixing

Bread makers which produce the round loaves in a vertical position have it easy. They can knead the bread with ease with a single set of kneading blades. The Zojirushi Home Bakery Virtuoso BB-PAC20 uses dual kneading blades to make sure the bread is thoroughly mixed and kneaded from edge to edge in the rectangular cooking pan.

Multi-Sided Baking

The Zojirushi breadmaking machine has an amazingly fast baking cycle of only two hours. This is due to heating elements surrounding the baking chamber to give even heat which penetrates and bakes the bread quickly producing a delicious loaf of bread.

One of the most important parts of homemade bread is the crispy upper crust. It needs to be slightly thicker in crustiness and flavor than the rest of the loaf to make the perfect load of homemade bread.

Zojirushi placed an extra heating element in the lid of the BB-PAC20 to make sure the bread is baked to perfection.

Easy to Use Controls with Timed Start Control

Zojirushi has programmed 3 memory settings into the BB-PAC20 which can be used for the recipes in the included recipe book, or your own special recipes. This makes getting bread baked very simple. You just choose one of the 3 presets and let the breadmaker take over.

For finer control you can program your settings using the easy to use touch pad and LCD display. The breadmaker includes a built-in LCD clock to help you keep track of time as you wait for your fresh bread to be ready.

You can even setup the breadmaker with up to a 13 hour delay. Imagine putting in all the ingredients at 9PM and then waking up in the morning and walking into the kitchen just as your loaf of bread is finished baking. Your breakfast time may never be the same.

Cook Books, Instructions, and More

Have you ever been frustrated trying to understand what a little instruction book is trying to tell you? This is not a worry with the Zojirushi BB-PAC20 breadmaker. You will find a cookbook, printed manual, and an instructional DVD you can watch all included in the package. This combination makes the Zojirushi BB-PAC20 an ideal choice for people getting their first bread.

Dimensions and Weight

At first glance at a picture online you will probably feel like the BB-PAC20 Breadmaker from Zojirushi is big. This is one time the images are a bit deceptive. The size is a compact 18” wide, 10.5 inches deep and only 13 inches tall. The breadmaker can comfortably sit on a small space on your kitchen counter ready for everyday use.

Additional Features

There are a few additional features which need to be mentioned. The bread pan is equipped with two handles to make it safe and easy to remove. The pan is coated with a non-stick surface which allows the bread to almost fall out of the pan when finished.

A feature which you are sure to enjoy is the small viewing window. Instead of being frustrated with wondering how the progress is going, you can take a quick peek.

Included Accessories

The following items are included in the box to make getting started easy:

  • Measuring Cup
  • Measuring Spoon
  • Instruction Manual and DVD
  • Recipe Guide (Includes recipes for gluten free breads, traditional breads, cakes, and even jam.)
  • Sourdough Starter

Optional Items

This is something which you might find a little unusual on a great quality bread machine. There are zero optional items offered on the Zojirushi BB-PAC20 bread maker. You can order a variety of replacement parts like the measuring cup, spoon, kneading blades, or baking pan, but it is unlikely you will need them.

Pros of the BB-PAC20 from Zojirushi

This is an excellent quality bread maker. It makes a beautiful 2-pound loaf of bread in the traditional loaf shape we all love to see. With the lid warmer you get a superior upper crust when compared to many other bread making machines. The system is easy to use with the push button controls.

Cons of the Home Bakery Virtuoso

The only con for the Zojirushi BB-PAC20 bread machine which has come to our attention is a slight limitation on the second and third bread rising cycles. You can set your first rise time to be up to 12 hours in duration, but the next two rises are limited to only 2 hours in duration.

This is rarely a limitation for most bakers, but can be limiting if you are working with low yeast bread recipes.

Wrapping up with the Zojirushi Bread Maker

The Zojirushi BB PAC20 is a great bread maker at a reasonable price. This bread maker is targeted to people who love to bake bread and do it often. You might find the bread maker a little high priced if you are planning to use it only on rare occasions. This is a durable, efficient bread machine which can handle nearly all of your bread making desires.

Panasonic SD RD250 Breadmaker Review

The Panasonic SD-RD250 bread maker is another great bread machine with slim and compact design from Panasonic, who also manufactures the Panasonic SD-YD250 bread maker.

It is able to bake bread in medium, extra large sizes and the crust color is controllable by simply selecting light or dark color options from the large and easy to read LCD panel.

It also has various baking mode – pasta, pizza dough, French, rapid bake and bake only, which works well with white or whole wheat breads.

Beside that, it also provides a unique dispenser that automatically drops dried fruits, raisins or nuts at the right time for even distribution.

With the durable diamond-fluorine coated baking pan it is even better in scratch resistant and long lasting use.

Panasonic SD-RD250 Customer Feedback

The Panasonic SD-RD250 bread maker has gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews from the buyers.

The majority of the reviewers agreed that it is very easy to use, pretty much set and go and lovely fresh bread will be ready in no time.

One reviewer finds that the manual came with the bread maker is very helpful, and a variety of recipes are also included to get you started in bread baking.

They also love the addition of fruit and nut dispenser in this newer model. With the absence of a viewing window it has a more even reflection of heat inside the machine.

However, some buyers complained that the bread maker can’t do 100% whole wheat bread and it doesn’t have the sandwich mode that was only available in the older model.

Many buyers loved the fact that the dispenser can automatically drop up to 150 grams of raisins, dried fruits, and/or nuts into the bread dough for even distribution. This results in a totally even distribution of dried fruit or nuts, instead of clumping all in one area, it goes all over the bread.

One reviewer mentioned that she doesn’t like the loaf of bread being too tall on medium setting, which makes it difficult to be cut. Another reviewer was suggesting an extra kneading blade for backup would be great as it is crucial component and is often misplaced.

Overall the Panasonic SD-RD250 bread maker is highly recommended.

Cuisinart CBK 200 Bread Maker Review

All about the Cuisinart CBK-200 Convection Bread Maker

Are you someone who likes to eat fresh bread for breakfast but doesn’t even know how to make one or doesn’t have the time and patience to bake? Worry no more! With the advanced engineering skills of bread makers today, everything seems to be possible.

A bread maker that is quite gaining popularity in the market these days is the new Cuisinart CBK-200 2-Pound Convection Automatic Bread Maker. It undeniably makes baking fresh bread such a breeze, minus the hassles of baking in a conventional stone oven.

A 680-watt bread maker, this appliance adjusts the timing and speed automatically without you having to constantly worry on getting the bread burnt. Another interesting feature is the convection fan which circulates the air while baking to ensure that heat is equally distributed.

The Cuisinart CBK-200 2-Pound Convection Automatic Bread Maker is also packed with menu options and dough settings which let you create bread that has the same quality with those made by professional bakers and those you often see at bakeries.

It even has options which help you create various loaf sizes and crust colors according to your own preference. With just a single touch on the buttons, you can now bid goodbye to those days when baking bread was still a complicated process.

Cuisinart CBK-200 Features and Specifications

  • 15 minute pause function
  • Audible tone for when kneading paddle can be removed
  • Alert for when nuts and fruit may be added
  • Audible tone when bread is baked and also at the end of the warm cycle
  • Programmable bread machine with convection fan adjusts speed and timing for foolproof results
  • 16 preset menu options including Low Carb, Gluten-Free, and Artisan Dough settings
  • 3 crust colors and 3 loaf sizes; over 100 bread, dough, sweet cake, and jam combinations
  • Audible tone indicates when to add mix-ins; 12-hour delay-start timer; power-failure backup
  • Glass viewing window
  • Measuring spoon and cup are included
  • Measures 18 by 12-1/5 by 14-7/8 inches; 3-year limited warranty
  • Product Dimensions: 18 x 12.2 x 15.2 inches ; 21.7 pounds
  • Shipping Weight: 22 pounds

16 Menu Options

The Cuisinart CBK-200 offers 16 menu programs, but it does not allow you to program your own custom cycles. Experienced bread machine bakers might miss having the power to reprogram or tweak certain settings such as the rising or kneading cycles. Ordinary bakers might not mind using the factory settings.

The instruction manual provides a timetable for each program that even takes into account the crust color and loaf size. It provides times for the preheat, knead, rise and bake steps. It also shows the specific times when audible tones will sound to either throw in fruit or for removing the paddle.

Pause Function

The stop/pause button pauses a cycle for 15 minutes if pressed once. The bread maker will automatically resume the bread program cycle after 15 minutes has elapsed. If you want to resume the cycle before the 15 minutes are up, then you may press the start button. The pause feature might come in handy when you want the dough to rise just a few minutes longer before the baking cycle starts.

You need to press and hold the stop/pause button for three seconds if you want to stop a bread program. If you make a mistake with the loaf selection or otherwise, you do not have to unplug the machine and wait around for more than 15 minutes to reset it. Use the stop button and start over again by selecting the correct control panel settings and then pressing the start button.

Power Failure Backup

If the power goes off while the machine is busy, then the bread maker will keep the current bread making cycle in its memory for up to 15 minutes. If the power returns before that period of grace is over, the machine will resume the process from memory.

Please note that unplugging the bread machine to cancel a menu program is not the best way. You need to wait for 15 minutes until it loses its memory (by which time you might have lost your temper) before plugging it back in and starting again. Rather use the stop button: press and hold for about three seconds until the bread machine stops. Then you can choose new menu options.

Mix-Ins Audible Tone

A series of audible signals (4 sets of 5 beeps each) remind you to add mix-ins near the end of the second kneading cycle. It is on by default on most bread programs except for low carb, quick bread, gluten free and last minute loaf. If you want to deactivate the signal, press the mix-ins button once before you press the start button. The mix-ins LED light will turn off to show that it has been cancelled.

Remove Paddle Audible Tone

The second audible signal (three sets of six beeps each) reminds you to remove the kneading paddle. It happens just before the last rise cycle when the mixing and kneading has been completed. Removing the kneading blade decreases the hole in the bottom bread loaf. The paddle shaft will still leave a small round hole.

The best way to remove the paddle is to press the pause button once so the machine will rest for 15 minutes. This gives you time to open the lid, take out the bread pan, remove the dough, remove the paddle, put the dough back, replace the bread pan and close the lid.

You may then press the start button to let the bread machine continue immediately with the baking cycle or simply wait for the pause period to end and the bread machine to resume. If this sounds like too much trouble, then you may leave the paddle in the pan and remove it from the finished bread. It is your choice.

End Bake Audible Tone

The bread maker will beep ten times to let you know it has finished baking the bread. It now keeps the bread warm for 60 minutes, at the end of which twelve beeps will sound to mark its completion. The keep warm cycle prevents the bread from getting too soft from moisture, but it is best to take it out as quickly as you can and let it cool on a baking rack. The bread crust will probably get a little darker if you leave it in too long.

Loaf Size

Press the loaf button to select the loaf size that matches your bread machine recipe: 1, 1.5 or 2 pounds. The Cuisinart CBK-200 is set by default to a 2-pound loaf size. The gluten free and low carb menu options do not allow you to choose a 1-pound loaf size. You cannot set the loaf size on the bake-only program.

Crust Colors

Crust color options are limited to the familiar three: light, medium or dark. The Cuisinart CBK-200 is set by default to a medium crust color. Sweet bread crusts tend to brown more easily because they contain more sugar and fat than other bread types. It would be best to choose a light crust color when baking a sweet bread, otherwise it might get too dark.

Delay Start Timer

It is important not to use perishable ingredients such as eggs or dairy products when you want to bake a bread using the 12-hour delay start timer. The ingredients might start to spoil before the bread is baked. If a recipe requires milk or eggs, then you might substitute it with dry milk powder or dried egg powder so that you may still use the delay start timer.

Cuisinart CBK-200 Customer Reviews

Generally, most people who bought the Cuisinart CBK-200 2-Pound Convection Automatic Bread Maker gave nothing but positive feedback and high ratings on the product.

They have expressed utmost satisfaction over the bread maker’s performance and even mentioned that it was worth the investment since you get repeated satisfaction-guaranteed results each time you use it.

However, a few people claim that this machine doesn’t work in spite of properly adhering to the given instructions. Overall, this piece of technology remains to be brilliantly superior over its contemporaries.

The Cuisinart CBK-200 convection bread machine is worth an extra few dollars, its probably the best bread machine with a convection feature

Panasonic SD YD250 Breadmaker Review

All about the Panasonic SD YD250 Breadmaker

The Panasonic SD-YD250 automatic bread maker is truly a 21st century electronic convenience with the various options it gives which include mixing, kneading, and rising.

It can bake loaves in three different sizes. They call it small, medium, and large. However, when you really measure them out, it’s about 1.5, 2, and 2.5 pounds. Therefore, this is a great bread maker for large families.

It also offers settings for white, whole wheat, multigrain, and French breads, with each made according to what is best for that particular style.

This Panasonic Breadmaker also comes with other settings that permit rapid baking, baking sandwich bread with a soft crust and when using raisins in the bread a beeper will signal when to add the fruit so that it is not crushed during kneading. It also allows you to select the color of the crust.

Uniquely, the Panasonic bread maker has an automatic yeast dispenser right on the lid. You just add the right amount of yeast to the dispenser and at the perfect moment, it’ll release it into the dough.

Yeas is an important ingredient and turns bread from good to great, from flat to fluffy.

Another unique aspect of this bread maker is that it features NO VIEWING WINDOW.

That may be a problem for some, but Panasonic says it actually improves performance. It allows them to bake bread with an excellent crust, good rising, and a nice color.

It can also easily make non-yeast, quick breads and mix, knead, and rise dough for pastries without baking them.

This breadmaker can be programmed 13 hours in advance by setting up a timer on the unit.

It is easy to clean because it comes with a non stick baking pan and comes with an instruction booklet that is easy to understand.

Zojirushi BBCCX20 Breadmaker Review

This specific bread maker stands out because you can bake many types of bread.

Not just regular loaves but also pizza dough, pretzels, cake, jam, meatloaf, and cinnamon rolls.

You can put all of the required ingredients in the machine, push a button and then relax for the next few hours.

There’s a built in timer that will alert you when your bread is ready to be eaten! And with the help of two kneading blades instead of one, it gets done faster than with many other bread machines.

This breadmaker is developed with pre-programmed cycles which make it useful for all sorts of breads and recipes. It also has a memory function to keep a list of your favorite recipes. This is really convenient if you, for example, like to make pizza every Friday or cinnamon rolls every Sunday morning.

Weighing 21 pounds means that you’ll be able to carry it but you won’t accidentally knock it off your counter!

The rapid cycle gives you the end product in about half the time (White bread in 1 hour 58 minutes, and dough in 45 minutes.)

Wrapping up with the Zojirushi Breadmaker

Looking for your first Bread Machine this could be a great choice for you.

The Zojirushi BBCC-X20 is an excellent machine and will last you many years and provide you with many great loaves of bread and many great batches of dough.

The Zojirushi BBCC-X20 is well made, it has dual kneading blades which I feel do a much better job kneading the dough than do single blade machines.

It has a true horizontal pan so you get loaves of bread that look exactly like you bake them in a bread pan in the oven. It has all of the cycles you need and with the custom programming features you can make the Zojirushi BBCC-X20 conform to your likes and needs.

I don’t think you can go wrong with this Zojirushi small bread machine. It is a great machine for the new bread machine owner; it is a great upgrade for those with lesser more basic machines or for those with older machines that want a new modern one.
